Free quit porn apps: what is actually free
Two apps in this category are free outright — Rewire Companion on Android and NoFap.io — your phone already filters adult sites for nothing, the two big communities cost nothing, and the tools on this site run free in a browser. Almost everything else advertised as free is a paid app with a free layer, and those layers have been getting thinner. Everything here was read off store listings and pricing pages and verified August 2026; this site carries no affiliate links.
The genuinely free apps
Rewire Companion (Android) is the workhorse. It counts to the second, keeps badges, relapse history and statistics, has a journal, an emergency-motivation button and a forum — all free, with no paid tier hanging over it. The documented grievance in its reviews is the motivational notifications, which arrive hourly or daily with no way to switch them off.
NoFap.io is free, needs no account, and is tiny in the store. It counts, and that is the whole promise. If what you want is a number that nobody else can see, it is the shortest path to one.
Both do the core job the paid leaders charge for: a day count and a place to write things down. Neither teaches you a method.
What your phone already does for free
An iPhone has adult-website filtering built in — Settings, Screen Time, Limit Adult Websites — with no app and no purchase. On Android, Private DNS pointed at a filtering resolver does a similar job for nothing, again with no app installed.
Both are worth switching on and neither is a plan. Every filtering layer available on a phone today is bypassable by a motivated person, including the person who set it up: another browser, a private window, or thirty seconds in Settings. Do porn blockers work sets out what each layer really stops.
The free communities
r/NoFap has roughly 1.2 million members, r/pornfree around 320,000, and NoFap.com counts more than 350,000 registered accounts. They cost nothing, they predate every app in this category, and for a lot of people they are the whole support system. What you get there is other people rather than structure — and the same caution applies as anywhere else online: what you post is public.
Free layers that got thinner
Fortify runs a free tier rather than a trial, and its users report that tier being cut back, with lessons that used to be free now behind the paywall. It is still the app with the most sensible published line on a slip; the free version of it is simply thinner than it was.
QUITTR is free to install and its free layer ends at the quiz: a dependency score, an offer with a five-minute countdown, and a three-day trial as the last gate. Play reviewers describe ads and a paid gate on most of what looks free from the outside.
This is the normal shape of freemium in this category. The counter is free, the content is not, and the free tier is a marketing surface that vendors shrink when they need revenue.
What free usually buys — and what it does not
Free buys you the counter, a journal, a community and notifications. It does not buy lessons, coaching, or anyone to answer an email — Fortify's human coaching and Relay's therapist-designed groups cost money because staff cost money, and that is fair.
Free does not automatically mean private. An app with an account, a forum and a quiz keeps that material on a server whatever it charges: the March 2026 exposure that put more than 600,000 QUITTR users' records in the open was a paid app, but the risk comes from the architecture, not the price. If privacy is the point, look for no account rather than no charge.
And free does not mean unpressured. Notifications you cannot turn off are the price Rewire Companion charges, and it is a real one on a bad evening.
Free tools in your browser
The six tools on this site are free, need no account, set no cookies, and keep what you type in your own browser:
- A quit porn day counter — your quit date, your day number, the next milestone.
- The six-question screen — a published screening instrument, scored exactly as its authors scored it.
- An urge surfing timer — the relapse-prevention technique, cited, with a paced timer.
- A time calculator — hours a week into hours a year, labelled an estimate.
- The recovery timeline — what tends to change, each line cited, labelled as reported, or cut.
- The No Nut November page — the common rules and a thirty-day grid.
They are on the Workbench, and they stay free.
Where Unhooked fits
Unhooked is launching soon, so there is no store link to give you yet and no ratings to quote. It is a paid app with an honest free floor: the urge tools — the paced breathing round, the wave timer, the SOS screen — are free forever, because help at the hard minute is not something to charge for. It is offline-only, with no account and no server of ours holding your record. If your budget is zero, the browser tools above and Rewire Companion will serve you well, and we would rather say so.
Common questions
What is the best free quit porn app?
On Android, Rewire Companion — it is genuinely free and does the counting, journalling and history that paid apps charge for. On iPhone the free options are thinner: NoFap.io, the browser tools on this site, and the adult-site filter already in Settings.
Is there a free quit porn app with no account?
NoFap.io needs none, and the tools on this site need none. Most free apps with forums or cloud sync require an account, which is what puts your notes on somebody's server.
Are free porn blockers any good?
The free ones built into your phone are as good as most paid ones, which is a comment on the paid ones. Filtering adds friction and delay; it does not decide anything for you, and every layer has a documented way around it.
Do free apps sell my data?
We cannot verify what any individual vendor does with data, and this page will not guess. What is documented is that this category stores sexual-behaviour data server-side, paid and free alike, and that one such database was left open to anyone in March 2026.
Do I need to pay anything to quit?
No. The free communities, a free counter and your phone's own filter cover the basics, and the evidence-backed methods — the CBT and ACT family — are skills rather than products. Paying buys structure and convenience, not the outcome.
